How to record from audio tape to pc.

I have some audio tapes that I want to somehow convert in a audio file(MP3).
I have a Laptop and a PC, is there a way to make this happened?

I heard I can get a walkman, put the audio tape, connect it from the earphone jack on walkman to the earphone jack on the pc/laptop and some how record....can that happened?

Is there any other way I can make this happened?

I have used Audacity to load and convert 25 year old audio tapes.
Audacity saves it's output as .wav files - but there is an mp3 plugin that you can install for mp3 file output.

As attar said, Audacity is a good choice, but if you want .mp3's, make sure go download the LAME library.

And sorry if this seems obvious, but you'll need a audio to audio jack. You can buy them at radio shack.
