Hi everyone,
I have a phat psp running 3.80 M33-5 custom firmware and am really struggling to get either Resident Evil 2 and 3 PSX Eboots to run properly.
Resident Evil 2 freezes at the "this game contains images of violence and gore" screen.
Resident Evil 3 freezes after i start the game, i'm not sure if i need to upgrade to a higher firmware or need to use a popsloader.
I have tried to install the popsloader 3.80 m33 and followed the below instructions:
download popsloader according to your firmware, 3.80m33
Put the "seplugins" folder that you got from the downloaded file to the ROOT of your PSP memory stick,
Now, download the PSAR dumper,
Put the "PSP" folder you got from the downloaded file to the ROOT of your PSP memory stick,
Now, download the firmware from which you want the pops,
After you download the firmware, put the "EBOOT.PBP" file to the ROOT of your memory stick,
Now, go the "Game" menu on your PSP and run the "PSAR Dumper" and press the "Square" button on your PSP to begin extracting the decrypted firmware files.
But when i try to load the psar dumper in the game menu, all it says is "this program requires 2.71 or higher"
I would really appreciate any help on this matter.
PS is there a way to conbine the two eboots for resident evil 2 into one eboot?
Many thanks for any help.

Hi everyone,
After some updating firmware and popsloader, i have managed to get both resident evil 2&3 to run on the psp.
The first thing i did was to update to 5.00M33-4 and then install the 1.50 addon for 5.00M33 and enable it in recovery.
Then i installed the Popsloader 5.00 full pack from
and placed the "seplugins" folder at the root of the memory stick and enabled it in recovery.
Then i copied the two Resident Evil 2 dual shock folders with eboots in to the GAME folder, and ran them on the psp, selecting 3.52 pops when prompted and it worked fine.
I have only tried the Leon scenerio A so far and does not freeze at the police station door.
I have also tried Resident Evil 3 and that was running fine and didn't freeze at the "this is my last escape" screen.
Both seem to run fine with no problems with picture or sound.
Hope this helps anyone that had the same problems.

when on 3.80 m33-5, changing the game ID to SLPS-01222 will also fix the problem. But... with your new method i can maybe actually change my firmware to 5.0 and play RE 2 and 3.

I didn't try changing the game id while i was at 3.80M33-5,
but at least with the popsloader on 5.00M33-4 both of them work now.
Using 3.52 pops also makes MGS work aswell with no distorted codec conversations either.
I've been testing out my other psx games with this pops and all seem to run fine.

I'm using 5.00M33-4 with the 5.00 1.50 kernel enabled in recovery, also popsloader 5.00 full pack from here:
www.pspcrazy.com/forums/psp-help-tutorials/103268-new-full-5-00m33-popsloader.html
Selecting 3.52 pops on 1st running the game.
I'm also running the dual shock version of Resident Evil 2.

Got it to work. I downloaded the popsloader and it worked great. the problem the first time it tried was that i didnt use the 5.0 version of poploader. I also used the 3.80 pops so if you wanna try that, it works. Thanks man.
