Not really sure where to post this or anything but here we go. I just got another computer and plugged in my DSL line to it through my router and my downloads are really slow....I mean like 25kb/s. So I went to do a speed test and my upload was way higher then my download....I know for a fact that isn't right. What could be causing this and how can I fix it?
You'll need to port forward the router and maybe set a static ip address too. Could be your ISP throttling, is it here or what is it: http://www.azureuswiki.com/index.php/Bad_ISPs What client, disable UPnp and enable Protocol Encryption if it has that option: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/395674 and use a port over 10,000, if utorrent, disable randomize port (think it is on newer version's now) at options>preferences>connection. There are guide's here for various router's and program's, just find your router, click on it, find your program in the next window, click on it and follow the direction's. Also, a guide on site for a static ip: http://www.portforward.com/english/route...routerindex.htm Forgot about your DL/UL issue, try this speedtest, very accurate: http://www.speedtest.net/ Check for your modem at port forward, a few have firewall's too and set your client as an exception in any firewall.
I hooked my old computer back up to the same wire and router and modem and I got very good download speeds. It seems to be some setting in the computer. It has Windows XP Media center on it and is fully up to date. Have any clue what it could be in the computer?
