I've just returned from holiday in Thailand and was so impressed with the country, I decided to get to grips with the language. So I purchased a number of language courses on CD with an accompanying guidebook, but I'm now faced with the problem of how to replay individual tracks included in each file. As you can probably imagine, it's essential to be able replay each track since repetition is the only way the brain can assimilate the data. But short of dragging the slider on the media player to approximately where a given track starts, I can't figure out a way to perform that action.

I converted the .CDA files on each CD to .WAV format assuming that would be the best one to work with and would now like to find a means of splitting the file into individual tracks. Has anybody got any suggestions on how to do that?

Thanks in advance.

Open/drag the wav file into Audacity.
Highlight your selection with the mouse, then 'File' >'Export Selection' and save the clip as a .wav file.

OK, thanks. I'll have a go at that although I was rather hoping that there would be an easier method of identifying the individual passages.

Actually, it's turned out to be the ideal solution. It only needs the exported file to be re-edited in order to delete unwanted audio.

For the benefit of anybody else reading this thread, the image shows the exported file which was created form the original. All I needed was the highlighted bit at the end which I exported to create the desired selection. :)
