heard of M3, N5, R4, U2, R6, G6 but not heard of R3.
theres also, supercard ds1, acekard rpg, acekard 2, dstt, edge, cyclods, itouch, mars, n-card, nplayer, firecard, ezflash, ds linker, (have i missed any) take your pick.
100 games??? that depends on the size of the memory card used. 8GB probably can hold 100 games.

Hi Mary.
I have to admit I am totally ignorant when it comes to the DS. Although I am a computer Engineer by trade, my only experience of a games console is trying to mod a playstation two and totally knackering it.
I have got on the shelf an 8gb SD card I bought for my camcorder but it would'nt recognise it. I have just looked at it and it says Topram SD 8GB
Would this work and what do I do with it.
It is my grand daughter that has the DS Lite and she was the one that started me on this quest.
I have just looked at the USB reader that came with it and it says SDHC Card reader, so I guess its and SHDC card.
What do you think, is just a case of loading the games onto it, can you play MP3 files thro it also?

probably best if you click on my sig, below for a quick ds mod guide.
the 8GB SD card you got wont work.
basically you need to buy a [flash card + microSD] or [flash card with built-in memory]
add the firmware, add some roms, plug it all into ds/ds lite and play.
flash card i recommends are : supercard ds1, ezflash Vi, cycloDS, ACekard 2i and Edge DS (in no particular order)
yes. media files (mp3, text amd movie) will work on DS with MoonShell app installed on the micro sd card.

Nope, that wouldnt work. DS flashcarts use microSD or microSDHC only, and not all of them support microSDHC either. A full sized SD card wouldnt fit in it.
And its a little different depending on what cart you get, but generally you just load the games onto the microSD, pop it in the cart, pop the cart in the DS and play.
There are also homebrew apps such as moonshell that will allow you to play various media files. Specially formatted video, mp3 and text files for starters.

Thanks Mary.
So it is not just one memory chip it is two.
What storage size needs to be on the micro SD card.?
Is that where all the games get loaded or do they go on the Flash Card.

So are you saying that the flash card is really just an adapter for the microSd card to allow fitting into the DS?

games and roms goes onto the micro sd card.
2 gig holds about 30 games, depends on the roms size.
use 4 or 8 gig if you plans to have movies on them.

i dont know exactly how the flash card works, i guess the flash card bypass the consoles security and load the micro sd card.

dont know any other moonshell site apart from wikipedia... some flash card already have moonshell included, like supercard ds1 and acekard have their customised moonshell version.

Don't know if that helps but my M3 real with 4G MicroSDHC works really well. I will be glad to help if you got M3 real although it is not the most recommended flash card.

I buy mine from www.dealextreme.com take about 2 weeks but free delivery and they have all been genuine, there are some fakes out there at the moment.
If you want GBA games get the perfect pack.

What flash card is recommended? I am assuming there are kits since the SD card has to go inside the Flash card.

Generally the M3 or the CycloDS are the most recommended. And you can get them as combos with a microSD or without and use any microSD you have laying around.
And the flashcarts have a slot that the microSD pops in and out of. Its not a technical process or anything.
