A few weeks ago, I had external speakers plugged into my Acer Laptop while watching a movie, when I got up, my foot caught on the audio cable, and this resulted in breaking the audio out. It still works, but only on the left channel. This means that the little metal connector inside the sound card has been bent. I was wondering if there was a way to reroute the audio going to the line out to the line in. What I mean is I would like to be able to plug speakers into the line in and hear the sound that would normally be coming out of the line out. Is this possible? Any help would be much appreciated, as the laptop speakers do not handle bass very well.

- Thanks in advance. Alex

Not to my knowledge. Realtek HD Audio allows output through different ports (e.g. front speakers through the rear speaker support when you have a surround model) but I have never succeeded in sending sound out through the microphone port. Are you sure it's the port in the laptop that was broken? If it is, you ought to have it repaired, or try and claim it under warranty.

I am sure its the port in the laptop, as I have tried several different sets of speakers. And I would have it repaired, except its a refurb, so there isn't any warranty... Any suggestions? Is their maybe a piece of software I could use to do this for me?

I fixed the port on the laptop with a small needle, a small flashlight, and some patience. Thanks for the help.
