I am trying to ascertain what would be the best solution for a "dedicated" emulator machine.
I have a ps2 at home that sits around and collects dust, plus, I really like ps2 controllers. It seems that it would be a good choice (vs. an xbox) to turn into an emulator machine.
I have done a little research, but the easiest and cheapest option, so far, seems to be swap magic. However, I like the idea of having a mod chip because it would allow me not to have to wait for a swap magic disk to be read and it is probably more flexible than swap magic is.
What are the pros and cons of swap magic vs. a mod chip? Is there a good mod chip that you would recommend to me if I was to go down that route?
Basically, I want to leave my ps2 over at my girlfriend's house so we can have an easy way to play some Dr. Mario because that is her favorite game. I guess I am looking for the easiest solution (which would probably be swap magic), but like I said, if you can recommend a good mod chip that would allow me to play homebrew like emulators and the like, I wouldn't necessarily be opposed to that either, even if it required some soldering and whatnot and would probably be more expensive. Any helpful comments or ideas would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
do you have a network adaptor? with a network adaptor, a hard drive, a memory card, and a little time you can do what you want without a modchip. my friend has a ps2 with hdd and he has sega and supernintendo emu's on it, they play all those old arcade games your talkin about. do a google on "free mcboot" im thinkin of doin it myself. goodluck.
