Has anyone here bought one of the full replacement shells for a DS lite? If so, did you have any problems with it?

The reason I ask is because I recently bought a clear DS replacement shell from dealextreme and am having one small problem.

The case replacement job was rather difficult, but I managed it. My problem though is that the D-pad is much looser than it used to be. It still works pretty well but its almost imposable to press 2 directions at the same time and move diagonally.

I've already tried tightening up all the screws and various seams, but nothing has helped. I was wondering if anyone else has had this sort of trouble and, if so, what they did to fix it?

I have had many from dealxtreme with differing results, some (blue black and red black) feel the very poor quality when the unit is back together, the best has been army style (horrible chrome buttons though, used black originals) and black with pokemon drawing on the outside.

They are a mixed bag, I try to use original button rubbers (if they are supplied) and mix bits together to get a good feel. But overall most are OK.

My clear one is of pretty good quality at least. It doesn't feel exactly like the original shell but its solid. I dont feel like I'm going to break it.

I did just try to open it back up to switch the buttons back to the original black ones, but accidentally stripped a screw so now I'm kinda stuck.

I have more screws I can use as replacements but I'm not sure how to go about extracting the stripped one.

I have managed to remove some stripped screws with a bladed screwdriver rather than a cross head, but I have had some where I ended up having to break the case to re open it. Cheap screws in the replacement cases

I didnt even touch the screws from the replacement case, I managed to strip one of the tri-wings. My smallest flat-blade screwdriver failed me as well.

I read somewhere that a drop of super-glue in the hole can give the screwdriver something to bite into. Ever hear of that?

No I haven't but I will give it a try, I have one DS recase that the screw stripped as I was putting it in, as everything is working I have left it, but will now have a go - nothing to loose apart from super - glueing the screw into the hole - so I will be careful

I have used the Singapore cases (NDS-shock) and the Chinese cases. IMHO, the Chinese cases are definitely cheaper quality and often don't fit as well. The Singapore cases are much higher quality (and much more expensive) but I don't have any complaints about the quality.

I try to re-use as many original NDS parts (d pad and buttons) as possible to get around some of the parts not fitting well.

If you have a small drill bit you might be able to drill a hole such that you can get a toehold with a flat bladed screwdriver.

Maybe put the dot of glue on the tri wing itself and super glue the screw to the screwdriver and try to get it out that way.
