Just got my 1st Blu drive today.
Got pineapple express in the drive, LG blu rom firmware up to date. The movie will play on my computer. DVD fab 5.2.2.2 won't recognize the drive. I tested it for dvds and it recognizes dvds.
If been backing up dvds for years so I am somewhat knowledgable.
Perhaps firmware is too updated? Meaning newer more up to date then dvd fab. Dvdfab Last update was a week ago I think. Hmmm
Not sure about the drive recognition problem, but DVD FAB cannoty rip a bluray disk.
Only AnyDVD HD can do that. It works just fine and is updated all the time to cope with latest encryptions.
I thought the problem might be this filter that I got from Cyberlink version 5.0.0.5 .0.0.30044 after update to powerdvd 7.3 Looks like other had that problem. However, I can't unistall it as the guides here says it should.

Of coarse, this guy (with the same problem) is getting half way through a rip before experiencing problems. I can't even mount the dvd.

not sure what you mean by 'won't recognise the drive'. Do you mean the media or is the drive actually shown in device manager as an unknown device. If its simply that Blu Ray media play ok but you cannot actually read the content via windows explorer and your running windows XP then you need the UDF 2.5 drivers (used on Blu Ray filesystems)which XP does not understand how to read. You therefore would need to install the UDF 2.5 drivers. There is a version of them on here somewhere (check the threads at the top of this forum). If you're running with Vista, then it already _understands_ UDF 2.5 and can open and read Blu Ray media.
I can mount the disk with a regular dvd in the drive, I can play a blu ray movie with the drive on my computer, I can explore the files on a blu ray movie movie via windows explorer. I just can't get DVDFab to recognize the blu ray drive as a source (or mount the disk) when a blu ray is in the drive. Although it does when a dvd is in the drive and the dvd is the source.
If what someone posted is true and only Anydvd is the only blu ray ripper out there then I suppose that is my problem. DVD fab does or at least did advertise that it does blu rays. Perhaps they have abandoned it. I will have to do more research. Any input would be appreciated.
I have been looking for an alternative to Anydvd HD for some months.
I came across a small handful of software and methods that claimed to be able to rip bluray but at the end of the day they were either very complicated and slow or just did not do what they claimed.
Added to that bluray has had many amendments to the BD+ protections lately which need to be cracked.
I tried the trial of anydvdhd and it worked flawlessly to either rip staright to an iso file which you can mount (or even burn to bluray blanks)or rip in file mode.
It was'nt long though before I had a newer bluray movie that anydvd HD needed an update to handle the new encryption version.
now i have bought it, it just connects to the server and updates.
Problem solved. It does exactly as they claim.
I can rip a 35+ gig bluray disk to an iso image in a little more than an hour.
You soon run out of HDD space though.
AnydvdHD is changing their update policy. If purchased prior to 1-11-09, free lifetime updates remain inforce. If purchased after 1-11, then a yearly license is required (more money). So if you are planning a purchase, now is the time to buy.
