Hi,

I found a lot of tutorials about softmodding a xbox (old model)
Unfurtunately they all make use of actionreplay to put some saved games on the memory card.

I have a usb stick , the Xbox is recognizing it. But when I want to use actionreplay I won't see the memory card and most of the times the 'cannot enumerate' error.

I tried it on two different XP machines.

Is there a way around ? or a solution?

I thought about xboxhdm, but I can't get it recognizing the existing original partitions.

Please help me,

Best regards,
Gert

you can try the hotswap tutorial, then you don't need the original game and gamesaves. just put the softmodded files in there directly. though be aware of the error 5 problems, better save then sorry (always connect the harddrive back before you power down your xbox).

with the other methods, you need a way to lock the harddrive back again. for that you need the eeprom.bin. for the hdm tool and the explorer360 program, the drive needs to be unlocked (you can use the above mentioned hotswap to unlock it, just generate an error 12 by taking of the dvd's ide cable).

succes ermee gert.

Can you provide me lucky link :-) There are a lot of tutorials.

I think I understand the hotswap part, but how to make the softmod now without the game exploits.

Please be patient and help me ;-) Maybe a personal email ?

normally i just point to the search button, but since you are a fellow dutchman ;-)

hotswap tut (never, never and never did it work for me. i couldn't get it to work and i tried.... but all the other guys claim it works, so it must be me (and me alone.....)). it has pictures and all:

btw. a know addition to the hotswap tut, you can generate an error 12 (which supposedly unlocks your harddrive), by disconnecting the ide cable from your dvd drive!

for the softmodded files mentioned in the tut. use c4rn1's files instead. they are great (as is his efforts in creating them!). scroll down the link, i normally used the v1.0/v1.1 files (on any version xbox, v1.-v1.5) but he also created the specific v1.4 and v1.6 files.

xplorer360 is in the download section

veel succes ermee, je gaat het nodig hebben vrees ik. zoals gezegd, bovenstaand is mij nog NOOIT gelukt! waar anderen wel succes claimen!
groeten

HI,

I found another USB stick that works. (not with ActionReplay), but on my modded (softmod) Xbox I can transfer the files to the memory card using XBMC.

In the SID5 manual I read about SID5.installer.zip and SID5.loader.splintercell.pal.zip. When I want to load them on the fresh (unmodded xbox) the saved gamed are untitled and I really don't know how to copy it to the HDD.

When you really are a dutch friend, help me ;-) Maybe by personal mail.

We forget about the hotswap method at the moment.
Groet,
Gert

usb stick is do not have any experience with. i know you have to format it to get your xbox to read it. but as soon as you prepared your usb stick correctly, it should function exactly as a memory card. then just copy the game save and exploit using the ms dash (on your unmodded xbox). here is the tut about softmodding (assuming you have a way to put the gamesave and exploit onto your unmodded xbox):
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/558747

keep in mind you need an original game, in your case the original splinter cell. there is no way around this!!

with the usb stick i cannot help you, don't have one (don't need, don't want one).i myself only use a memory card when i want to softmod an xbox. see above link. if i remember correctly, i copied over the complete folder into my MC. so i had UDATA and in the folder UDATA i had 2 folders (1 with exploit and 1 with gamesave).
