Recording problem when laptop mpgs played back on TV

Is it possible to record to DVD-Recorder, anything that appears on the screen of the Sony Bravia 40" TV regardless of the source of the input?

I've managed to send the desktop output of my Macbook laptop onto my Sony Bravia 40" LCD TV with the appropriate cable and switching the SONY to PC input. I can play back streamed movies running them on the macbook laptop and watch them on the 40" Sony TV but I can't work out how to send that output from TV to my SCART-connected DVD +R Recorder. Should I run a separate scart direct from TV to DVD Recorder - would that work?

It seems the TV when switched to PC Input doesn't have that signal connectable to the tuned input of any AV1 AV2 or any other tuned channel on the DVD Recorder.

My SCART setup allows me to record DVD from tuned output on the Humax Freesat tuner, or from the output of my Topfield Digital dual-tuner recorder (Freeview or playback of previous recordings) The only thing I can't work out is how to record laptop output showing as mpgs or AVI on the Screen of the SONY TV.

Maybe I'm expecting too much. I've got most of what I want it to do until I go for a Blu Ray recorder later this year, but this task has stumped me.
Anyone got any good advice on this?
