okay, so everytime i load my dads laptop, it gives a screen after the windows sign saying i might have a hardware issue or something, and i dont have the recovery disc, so how do i fix this screwed up laptop?

Can you post here what the error says please.

Also, try tapping F8 after turning on the pc until you get a screen of boot options, choose "last known good configuration", there's a chance that might work if it's not a hardware fault.

it still does not load, it says:

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

If this is the first time you've seen this Stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:

Check to be sure you have adequete disk space. If a driver is identified in the stop message, disable the driver or check with the manufacterer for driver updates. Try changing video adapters.

Check with your hardware vendor for any BIOS updates. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use safe mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select Advaced Startup Options, and select safe mode.

Some of these guys seem to think it's a malware issue. I'd have a read through the above links if I were you, then maybe post in the virus and spyware forum.
