I've been having problems with Nero Vision for a while now. I thought it was a driver problem, so I updated my firmware. But after updating the firmware, I still get an error. Today, I wanted to burn files with Nero Express, but when it got to about 12%, it said there was an error again. If someone here can help me that would be great. Here's my log:

To get Nero out of the picture, try Imgburn.

Insert a blank DVD.
Run Imgburn.
'Write Files/folders to disk'
Load any data file or the 'Video_TS' folder.
Set the burn speed to 4x and check the 'Test Mode' box - this simulates a burn without wasting a disk.

I tried the test mode, but the program said it couldn't do test mode with the disc I had in (DVD-R). However, my writer doesn't recognize DVD-RWs anymore after the firmware update, so I tried burning with the DVD-R anyways. I got an error again, and it looks like nothing at all was burned onto the disc, because it's still empty. Does the problem have to do with my writer or my discs? I'm using Sony DVD-Rs, in case you were wondering. Here's the log from Imgburn.

In test mode it doesn't write anything to the disk - but it should still indicate a good burn.
I doubt the problem is with those particular disks - but trying some 'Verbatim' DVD's wouldn't do any harm.
Neither Imgburn or Nero seem to be the problem, so if you can, test the burner in another PC - or get a new burner with a good return policy.

I'll try to see if I can test the burner in my other PC. Thanks for your help!

I was wondering if it's possible for me to go back to the previous firmware version I had? Because I want to see if the burner can read DVD-RWs again.
