Hi, I have Realtek 7.1 onboard audio on my Asus m3a78-em motherboard. It has separate rear ports for front speakers, subwoofer/center, side speakers, etc.
So, I have a pair of front speakers and a separate subwoofer, and plugged them accordingly to the rear ports. When I do sound test in "playback devices" in Vista, I can hear clearly that the subwoofer is generating sound. However, outside of testing, in windows media player or games, the subwoofer does not make any sound.
I have tried installing the newest driver but the situation is still the same. Any ideas?

Set speaker mode correctly in the control panel?
