I just invested in a Sony stereo model MHC-EC98P and it doesn't have the traditional auxillary inputs (RCA left-right red/white plug in) but it does have an input for mp3 players and the like with the tiny 3.5 mm plugs my question is - I would dearly love to plug my pre-amped turntable from my left/right red/white RCA plugs into a 3.5 mm adapter into this source - I hope I won't damage the system and will it work?
will I lose audio quality from this?
any feedback would be wonderful

Radio Shack sells the adapter.

If you are worried about breaking something, you could either discover the max power the turn table will put out and see if that is in the specs for your amp. The easy way is to start at low volume.

Yes, you will lose audio quality. Will it be noticable/meaningful? Quality plugs will reduce the loss to a very acceptable (you can't hear the difference) level. Because the signal was boosted before the connection, the plugs would need to be very bad indeed to lose any real quality. I wouldn't and do not think twice about it. I am using a double plug right now. I use gold plated connectors to reduce the loss as much as possible.

cool thanx for that info
I know the basic plugs retail for about $4 in australia's similar electronics chain but I might invest a little more for the gold plated or better quality connections
