I'll be honest, you probably ought to get a new power supply itself. The reason I say this is that you have a cheap brand unit, one of my brands that lie about how powerful they are. You stand a good chance of big problems if you keep that PSU as it may not be able to cope with the load of the system. Assuming you will only ever use one GTX280, something like a Corsair HX 520W will do fine for your system - don't be fooled by the lower wattage, it will be a much more powerful unit, more than capable of running that card, will be quieter, more efficient, and more importantly, safe.

If you paid £250 for it you didn't do too bad. Ultimately though it isn't worth much more than an HD4870 1GB which you can score for £199.95. I wish nVidia would sort their prices out in the UK, I haven't recommended an nvidia card for ages on that basis.

yea i understand that like. its stupid tho to be honest because they just brought the gtx 295 n it is way to expensive, yet there bringing out pci-e 3.0 some time this year so more gfx cards will be out to support it and those people who bought the new intel i7 which i want at some point there mobos will need changing just for the new pci-e v3.0

I really don't see what the point of a PCIe 3 would be, PCIe 2.0 is far from being saturated even by the GTX295. The only advantage I suppose would be that triple SLI boards that only have 4x or 8x lanes would still have enough bandwidth for top end cards. The GTX285 is a complete waste. The GTX260 216 core is competitive to an extent, but the cheaper HD4870 is ultimately the better buy. The HD4850X2 and HD4870X2 are far better value than SLI configurations, GTX295 included.
