hi, i am new to this site, so please to meet everyone and hope i can help ppl as well as they help me,.

my problem is actua;;y with my grandfathers pc, it was working fine today and all of a sudden it restarted to a black screen saying " disk boot failure, insert system disk and press enter"

i have also noticed that it is not recognising the hard drive, i replaced the hard drive with my sons and still the same problem.

any ideas on what to do?

does the bios see the drives? have you changed the data cable from drive to motherboard? any other drive on same data cable? have you tried another data port on motherboard?

no the bios isnt recognising the hard drive ony the cd drive. i have changed data cable also and nothing.

Can you hear the drive spinning up. Sorry to say, but most likely the drive is dead.

There is a possibility that the HDD interface on the mobo is dead. If you have another connector on the mobo, move the HDD to that one and see if the symptom changes.

i have tried the drive in my own pc and getting the same message on screen.

then the drive has crapped out. does the son's drive still work in his pc?

yea so thats why im now wondering if its botyh hard drive and motherboard thats went.

probably yes & hopefully not also take out the son's drive too.
