drag and drop your games indivually to your memory card rather than creating a folder, dont know if this will help

Does the flashcart create an "xxx.sav" (where xxx is the name of the ROM) file on your microSD?

Sorry, no answer here. I've set up a LOT of R4s and never seen this. The .sav file is created before the ROM boots.
1)Are you sure that you have enough space on the microSD to create a .sav file
2)microSD isn't write protected
3)Is the game loading? If the .sav file can't be created, the game should crash or not start.
4)There was a problem with one of the Spongebob games in that the .sav file was created by the R4, but when the game tried to access it the first time, it couldn't and the game wouldn't proceed.
5)What kind of R4 do you have? There are 7 or 9 different types?
P.S> Just thought of something . . . did you try taking the games OUT OF the folder??? I think that the ROMS are supposed to be in the root directory. I have never put them anywhere else. Try that.

1)Reload the kernel software.
Only use 1.18 if you have an "original R4"
If you "just got it" you may have one of the clones and need a different kernel.
Other than that, I'm at a dead end.

In my signature is a website that hosts all the firware for flashcarts, there are now 11 for the different types of R4. As Dailun says make sure you have the right one

@ Krnfatty and chill13,
Neither of you have provided the BASIC information that you will need to know to resolve this, which is (yes I am shouting)
WTF KIND OF FLASHCART DO YOU HAVE?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!
There are over 9 variations of R4 flashcarts currently in existence, each with their own family of kernel/moonshell. I do not know (nor do I know of anyone that has) done any research on which kernel might cross to which flashcart because you're not supposed to do it anyway.
If you have something other than you an R4 "original" R4 revolution for DS, you shouldn't be using 1.18.
Hey, believe it or not there are people here trying to help you, but we can't help you if you can't help yourself by providing necessary information.

OK, that's a start. Original R4 Revolution should be using 1.18.
Your R4 is probably defective.
I have 1.18 and my R4 is running with no problem.
One last thing you might try.
1)backup your microSD
2)Format your microSD
3)copy a new 1.18 kernel
4)Pick a ROM of an OLD, known game that should work (Like Mario 64 GS)
5)See if the gamesave creates
If you are having problems with the newer games, this is probably one of the issues with a flashcart for which "support no longer exists".
In either case, I suggest you start doing your homework as you should be in the market for a new flashcart (anything other than an R4).

sigh. I dunno what's wrong. I tried all of that and I got my r4 last night. I got this cuz I know r4 can host multiplayer games. I have "ds one" sd card but it doesn't host. there has to be a way to fix this seemingly small issue

There's no way to "fix" it if the cause is a defective flashcart.
MaryD7 is the resident Supercard DS One expert. I have not heard of any issues with the DS One hosting games.
Are you trying to host a single cart game or a multiple cart game?

it didn't work for either. I don't understand why it wouldn't. I must be cursed. I dunno what to do with my r4 now

OK, by "it didn;t work for either", do you mean that it wouldn't work for either flashcart?????
If so, then you need to try another DS. As I recall, there was one report about this that was traced back to a defective DS.

lol @ dailun, I uses DS One alot but i am no expert.
my DS One can host/multi-play cross platform with R4DS (original) and G6 Real with ease, no problem what-so-ever.
What games are you playing? maybe its games related. I will try out that games for you and see if my DS One can host.
Regarding the R4 .sav files, try this, get a new micro sd card, 2GB (or les) formated FAT (not FAT32), copy the system files on the root, then create a folder called NDS and put one games in it, like Mario Kart, see what happens. (My R4 is setup with a NDS folder). and try puting the game outside the folder like others here suggested. both case seems to work.

@rickybar,
Please, no hijacking threads.
Especially if your problem is NOT identical to the orignal thread. (which it doesn't seem to be)
You should start a new thread and describe in more detail any issues that you are having.
