I have a WRT110 Linksys router hooked to my desktop running vista ultimate. I also have a laptop running vista home basic and another desktop running XP. Whenever I connect the laptop to my network it crashes my router for like five minutes. I can?t connect any of the computers to my network or even access the router settings. When I connect my xp wireless desktop or psp to my router everything is fine. So I took the usb network connector out of my xp desktop and put it in my laptop and the laptop connected well. I do not know if this is a compatibility issue between my laptop network card and the router or if the router is bad. I put the router back to the factory settings and re installing everything and it is fine until the next day then it starts to act up again. I also put all the router info in manually and it still does the same thing. I have not upgraded my firmware because it says I have the newest one already. If anyone can give me anymore troubleshooting steps that will be great.

Question: What were you attempting to use to connect you laptop to your router prior to utilizing the USB network connector?

Your laptop has at least 2 ethernet connections 802.11g is the wireless connection.

Were you using the wired or wireless connnection to connect the laptop?

What happens if you plug the laptop into the router with a wire?

I was using the wireless connection to the laptop. I have not tried to connect it with an Ethernet cable yet. I will have to give it a try. Ii does connect with the onboard wireless adapter it just crashes my router for about five minutes before it recovers itself. It disconnects all computers from the router.

Took the router back to walmart, got a new one, and it has been working great.
