I have purchased a copy of Left 4 Dead today and activated on one steam account. Is there any way to run Left 4 Dead on two PCs using one license? I do not want to play online, just LAN. Also, I have tried playing the game off line and it gives me an error that steam does not have permissions to start l4d.exe

Yeah! I am almost completely sure you can do normal LAN, but you can also do split screen on the PC, it's a blast.

split screen PC??!?!??!?!
and no, you can't run it under one steam account, however there is a non-steam patch that you can download, just type it in google. Patch the game, and copy the files onto another computer, and you can play LAN without steam.

you can run l4d on one computer with split screen and the only thing i can think that you could possibly do would be offline on your normal steam account possibly online and the download the non steam cracked game and play over lan (which is illegal) but since you own the game i dont see whats wrong with downloading it

the split screen requires at least one controller
