Logitech 880 remote is doing double duty...HELP

I hope this is where to post about home theater remotes,,,mods please move thread if it is not. My problem is that I have an xbox 360 and a htpc that also has WMC 2005. When I try to set up the remote "both" of them turn on when the remote powers "one" of them up. I use the HTPC alot for stored movies. I know that the xbox 360 has WMC installed and that it can be used as an extender but it will not play certain file formats. Can this remote problem be solved?
