Fellows, I just bought a new KHS 400C PS2 lens replacement, brought it home and replaced my old orignal PS2 lens!
The problem is that when any disc is inserted into the drive it wont spin. when the reset button is pressed there is a slight movement of the motor and thats all.
I replaced back the orignal lens then the disc started spinning again!
Can anyone tell why is it so or what could the problem be? Is there a calibration or adjustment problem?
No it did'nt help, the videos only show how to replace the lens, my problem is that the disc wont spin and the lens makes clicking sounds when the tray is closed.
Just tried another KHS 400C lens from my cousin's PS2 which is a SCPH-50003, the problem still exists.
Is the Magic 3 modchip causing the problem, i read somewhere that KHS400C has problems with modchips, is it true?
The orignal lens inside my PS2 is HD7. I also calibrated it using a Multi-meter, I set the CD pot to 1100 ohms and the DVD pot to 950 ohms, my old lens has started reading some of the DVD R games and some DVD Videos as well.
But i am worried about the KHS 400C someone please guide.
You are correct, Your replacement Laser may NOT be compatable with MOD chips Because it's probably a re-furbished laser.
Maybe try Ebay for another HD7.

Wish i could try ebay some day, I live in Pakistan and most of the stuff ebay has to offer requires payment through Paypal, unfortunately paypal does not offer services to Pakistani users :(
I am thinking about the direct boot method using a memory card and about using a USB HDD to load my games backups.
I tested the 400B and 400C on a modded console with a Crystal chip-both lasers worked with no problem.
Since your original is HD7 and the replacement is 400C-you may need to adjust the height and angle of the lasers.
Height: Adjusted by the tiny screw that that sits with laser on the rail. (This screw is sensitive to movement-very little at a time is all that is needed)
Angle: adjusted by the cogwheels at the top of the laser rails.
Try the cogwheels first as that may be all you need to do.

adjustment would have been only possible if the lens worked, the problem with me is that when i put the KHS 400C lens, the disc wont simply spin when the reset button is pressed.
Angle Adjustment too low or too high for these lasers will make them appear to not function (I have verified this)-you won't do any damage to the laser by adjusting the wheel 1 click at a time, either direction, if not one way, go the other- put an original game disc in to test each time you turn the wheel.
