Hello,

I am looking for a new sound card with digital coax out. It is going to be used 95% for playing mp3/flac files.

My question is whether there will be a difference in audio quality between on board sound, a $50 sound card, and a $200 sound card since we are working in digital out...

Are the main differences today for movie surround, game technologies and D2A, or will a better sound card result in improved digital MP3 output quality as well?

I have tried to find this information by searching and after two days I'm at a loss.

Lastly, any recommendations? I've been looking at AuzenTech and HT Omega (both around $100).
