My friends PC has a Nvidia GeForce 2 mx/mx 400 video card in it. I am trying to connect it to my Sony Bravia Hdtv. If i connect a regular monitor to the card with vga and my tv to the card with dvi to hdmi, the card will recognize my tv but when i try to switch to that output it gives me an error code 103. If I turn off the computer and disconnect the vga and turn it back on my tv says 'output not recognized please check output device'. If i connect it to the tv with s-video it works but looks so bad it is unusable. I am assuming it is a driver problem but have gotten the latest driver from nvidia which opened up more control options for the card but still won't output to the tv through the dvi. But it does come up as 'Sony tv' in the options. Just won't let me switch to it.

Any thoughts?

Thanks
Mike

PS: I have a Ati Radeon x300 se in my computer that works fine with the dvi to hdmi on my tv. But it is a pci-e card. He can only use agp or pci. All cards that look like they can support Hdtv output need 300w ps but his computer is only 250w ps.

well I've made some progress. I can get it to work through my tv but only a limited bit. If I set it to my tv as the only display then turn off the computer and unplug the vga but leave in the dvi and turn it back on it will start loading and i can see the dell screen on my tv but when it goes to the windows xp screen the resolution is way off,(it is way to big) and then I get the blue screen of death. But since the resolution is so far off i can't read what error it is. If i restart in safe mode it works fine. I can see it on the tv and it looks good although then I can't change to resolution to 1920x1080 for the wide screen tv. so I am assuming it is a driver problem or a chipset problem. I've got the newest driver from nvidia but thats not working. When I look at the nvidia card in the device manager it says its in a pci slot but is actually in a agp slot.

Any thoughts?

Mike,
I am not much of a techie being in my 70's but can I watch HD tv by using a computer and the internet? I have a nice 67"H.D. Samsung but Comcast wants a fortune for service and I would like to force them to lower their price to keep me as a customer.
Jim
