Persona 4 undub start up freeze?

Yes, this game was copied (backed up).

So I was playing and got to some dialog bits where one of the main characters who had voice acting lines for hours until now had suddenly stopped talking. So after a while I decided to save and restart the game.

The PS2 screen comes up, the usual (for this game) PlayStation 2 Undub logo shows and then goes, then the screen either stays black with the PS2's DVD drive making some weird noises or it gives me the "Please insert a PS2 disc" or something line.

I'd clocked in a good 10 hours before this suddenly happened.
The disc is a SKC brand DVD-R 16x.
I burnt the game with DVD Decrypter at either 8x or 4x. It took about 10 minutes.

The thing is I have GTA4 on a SKC DVD-R 8x which is running perfectly fine.

ONE FMV in the first 3 hours of Persona 4 did show some lag, so should I burn the game again now at 1x or 2x?
