you can get a program called ePSXe v 1.7.0 ( Enhanced PSX Emulator) It is an emulator that you install into your com (on desktop or wherever you like that's easy to get at)along with a few other pieces, like a BIOS that it needs to run( bios only applies to the Emulator, doesn't mess with/ change your computers BIOS)and 3 other very small Plug-ins for Video (GPU 3D3 DX6D3D or OpenGL or SoftGL), and sound plug in.
Once you have it all installed in computer you can put your game discs into your CD/DVD drive and choose to open the game from the Emulator's Interface.
If you want you can use your computer and a program, such as PowerIso or ImageBurn to make an.ISO Disk Image of your games, leave them on your HDD and play them from the .ISO images. There is an option to either play from Disc, or ISO.

If you are still looking for a way to play them on your computer, post back and I will tell you where you can download the the Emulator and the BIOS etc.

EMULATOR is here: http://www.epsxe.com/download.php

scph1001.bin BIOS: http://www.sendspace.com/file/xwdqpn

PLUG-INS: http://www.pbernert.com/index.htm

To use the PSX emulator u need to get a BIOS file, search the internet or other p2p networks to find it, it is called SCPH1001.BIN and is about 0,5 MB big
You have to put it into the BIOS folder you will see when you have opened the epsxe to your computer

In order to play the game u need to install some plugins, download and install/extract these plugins in the plugins folder:

Pete's Video plugin, for best video, get it here http://www.ngemu.comdownload.php?action=plugin&id=7 Pete's Sound plugin, for best sound, get it here http://www.ngemu.com/download.php?action=plugin&id=23
Pete's CD plugin, get it here http://www.ngemu.com/download.php?action=plugin&id=35
Input plugin, get it here http://www.ngemu.com/download.php?action=plugin&id=52

After installing the plugins start up ePSXe go through the install wizard step by step

Video, choose Pete's video plugin for your graphic card, then press Config and then press the "Nice" button at the button to get good settings that works good with these FF games, if u dont want to play in full screen u can change that at the top by choosing window mode

Choose Pete's Sound plugin and press next, dont need to change any config.

Choose Pete's CD plugin (P.E.Op.S. CDR Driver 1.4) and press config, Select your interface at the top, if u have W2K or XP choose the raw reading one. then select what drive the game is mounted in and press ok

Finally change the controllers or keep them as they are, u decide..

To load the mounted image just press File and then Run CDROM. if u want to load a real ps cd that u have in your drive u need to change the drive in Pete's CD plugin (P.E.Op.S. CDR Driver 1.4) to the specific drive.

Thats all, hope it works, if u bump in to any problems, just post it here and ill try to help.
Especially when I figure out how to use my keyboard as a controller!!
Someone here will help me with this, I'm just about to put a thread up on the subject. I have everything working but no controller to even start the games once all the intro's are finished.
Perhaps you know how its done? Let me know if you do.

If you mean as in using the laptop as a Screen to watch it on, then heres how you can do it (The other guy might have already said it )!

Anyway, you could use a TV watching PCMICA Card (Spelling?), with an Aerial port.
What you then could do is, is connect it using the arial with a PS2 RF Adapator or something (I did it with my PC once...).

Or better yet, get a card that has Video In with S-Video, should be easier WildCatz have a video in for S-Video, or I think the Yellow wire on the connecter on PS2 from PS2 to TV is the Video port....... Which could connect to S-Video?
Red and White are for sound...

Anyway hope I was helpful!

re: How do I connect PS2 and PC via USB?
you can get a VGA to to an RCA (female) cable which will adapt the yellow ps2 plug to a PC screen.
(There are so many mistakes in that short sentence Dave. -PZ)

This is a video capture PCMCIA/Cardbus card that works only for laptops. Its almost $110USD but it sounds like what you're looking for.

I'm looking for something that would let me hook the RCA cables from my game consoles (ps2, GC) up to my laptop, and use my laptop screen + speakers to play them. Ideally, it would hook up through the USB 2.0 or something, but whatever would work. Various people I've asked all seem to think that some way to do this exists, but none of them could tell me what exactly. Again, I basically want to use my laptop in place of a tv, not in addition to. Any help would be appreciated.

It's possible your laptop may have the ability already. You should check through your laptop manual or ports in the back/sides to see if it has a VIDEO-IN or VIVO videocard. The exact make/model of laptop would be helpful if you're unsure.

There are indeed USB capture boards which you can use to do what you are trying to do. Unfortunately, most of them require USB 2.0 ports for proper speed/bandwidth, so your laptop will need to have the newer/higher speed USB 2.0 ports.

If so, you can get USB capture boards.. For example, one of the more popular and quality units is the Dazzle board - $45
http://www.pinnaclesys.com/PublicSite/us...reator%2B85.htm

Keep in mind that the speed of your USB port and laptop will determine how feasible it will be to play videogames using such devices. The latency between the input signal and it's display on the monitor can sometimes exceed 1-2 seconds, which as you know, would make playing a racing game or other game requiring fast responses impossible to play. Most modern laptops though are able to capture with about 250-500ms latency, which is pretty doable.

Hope this helps!

gborman, i just want to thank you for everything i might use your idea sometime, when i finish building my super awesome gaming pc that i will have after i have the money to buy some more parts and download the things that you gave.. thank you.. i would like to know though about the memory, i mean i have a ps2 console already, but i might do those things you told me if i dont have any ps2 console =) about the dowloading and stuff. but the USB idea cable is great and i believe that is the only cheapest one that i could get right now. i also have an xbox 360 nd i actually could play it on my lap top i guess .. anyway thank you for everything... and for the bad part about the gamebridge is maybe it takes about 100% cpu usage so i maybe not able to do anything in my laptop while im playing sucks but i guess i could do that for now. hopefully it wont ruin my crappy compuper. anyway thank's alot. i like your idea though.. confusing but acceptable.

that looks sweet. There is another one here but as you have ordered one already and it isn't as expensive as the one here
http://www.altoedge.com/usbcapture/index...Sagodkiza2A#103
you'll probably be ok with what you are getting.
Hope it works for you.

I don't have a PS2 or any PlayStation machine. Don't usually play them but out of curiosity I got that Final Fantasy V111, all 4 ISO's of it and am trying to get it to play on my computer with the 'Virtual' player, ie ePSXe. I'm going to have to buy a game controller, I can't find any info on how to use the computer keyboard to work.
No problem, I had fun looking for you as I was looking for myself as well.
Ciao

ps: what is the make and model of your laptop, you don't have to reply.
:)

Did you read the piece below from this site?

Using the Video-IN on your laptop should have NO latency... so it will be near-instantaneous response. MUCH, much better/faster than an external capture board + USB.

For viewing the video-input, a free/cheap program is AmCap:
http://noeld.com/programs.asp?cat=video

So all you truly need to do is:
1) Get an SVIDEO connector for your console. There are also Composite->SVideo adapters, but honestly- they can be just as much as a true svideo cable. (i.e. for my PS2, the Sony SVideo cable is like $19, but the composite to svideo adapter at Radio Shack is like $21).
2) Make sure you have the WDM drivers installed on your Alienware. If it's the factory install, it should have them already. A quick peek in the Device Manager should show them.
I have just noticed that a Senior member has joined in and I'm sure that their advice will be far more knowledgeable than mine.
Good luck

@girl42..here is a program called Dscaler(should allow you to keep the lag to a minimum, if any)will go with the pinnacle video capture card: http://deinterlace.sourceforge.net/downloads.htm

here's another tv tuner card for the usb port: http://www.amazon.com/KWorld-PVR-TV-Tune...83001120&sr=8-1

also you can look at an adapter called GameBridge..it's roughly $70..might be able to find one or any of these items on ebay for cheap..good luck

if you are going to use the emulator you will need an adapter to connect the ps2 controller to the laptop( http://www.amazon.com/PS2-Dual-Controlle...33825662&sr=8-1 )

but you said you've already order the gamebridge so you can connect your ps2 to your laptop to be able to use the laptop as a screen for the ps2, right?

evnflow, hi. your input has helped me in my quest to get the eSPXe 1.7.0 Emulator I have installed in my computer HDD working. I assume that I need a game controller and the USB adapter to connect it to my com.
Now, I'm hi-jacking girl42's thread!
Not intentionally.
Cheers.

girl42, you'll be right I'm sure.
I'm learning some crazy stuff too, and it's all good.
The interest I had in the Emulator is that I don't have a PS2 or any other gaming machine but the Emulator interested me in that it is installed into the computer, as a 'Virtual' game machine and the games are stored as .ISO's to the HDD or a memory stick/flash drive or on CD/DVD discs. Highly portable if one has a Laptop, less bulk and weight to carry about. I don't have a laptop, I have a Desktop PC running XP Pro SP3 with an AMD Athlon 1.67GHz, only 768MB DDR3 PC2700 RAM and no video capture card. I can add more ram up to 2GB, get 2GHz processor and another graphics card but I won't, as my com does what I want it to do, mostly, and I am going to be starting a 3 year Degree in Digital Media course in two weeks time and I am going to have to buy an Apple G4 or PowerMac because the tutors don't/won't entertain Windows MS OS's.
Snobbery

Post back how you get on with your quest. Success is always rewarding.
