soon afer i got a virus or trojan and got rid of it, i realized that my keyboard hasnt been functioning normally. i can type and use all the standard buttons, but i cant use the extra ones, like pause/play/volumes/mute/ect. so i thought uninstalling the keyboard driver and then reinstalling it would be fine. so i googled and followed this guide saying
Quote:To get rid of that unwanted driver, device, or service:
1) Open the ?Start? menu and choose ?Run??
2) Type in ?cmd? (without the quotes) and click ?ok?.
3) At the cmd prompt, type in ?set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1″ (without the quotes) and press enter. (Note that nothing seems to happen?this is ok. We are actually setting an environment variable which is going to help us to see hidden devices)
4) On the next cmd prompt line, type in ?devmgmt.msc? (without the quotes) and press enter. This will launch the Windows Device Manager Console.
5) In the Device Manager Console, from the ?View? menu, select ?Show Hidden Devices?.
and i uninstalled the keyboard, and when i plugged it back in via usb, i expected that the window would pop up saying 'hardware has been recognized' and stuff, but it didnt. i also tried to install the cd that came with it, but not nothing changed.
i have successfully uninstalled, installed, reinstalled the software for the keyboard and it still does not function normally. the thing is the first time you use the keyboard, the multimedia buttons function normally, its just that the software is used to CHANGE the button configurations. but now they dont even work at all.
no that did not work. i tried using different usb ports and system restore. none of those worked. i can try doing an earlier system restore, but i restored it to thursday, which was before the problem occured. any other suggestions?
