after burning dvd can't get online

Hello, long time reader, first time poster...this is the first time I couldn't find the info I need just by looking.

Anyway, anytime I burn a dvd with Nero 7, the dvd turns out fine, but I can't go online afterwards. My system will not acknowledge the existence of my ethernet adapter. Sometimes a reboot will cure it, but just as often I after to reinstall the modem, the software from my ISP, and reconfigure my connection from scratch, as if it was never there.
Any thoughts?

what happens if the disk is burned using 'Imgburn'.
