Both DVD Drives not Responding

Well as the title says, both my DVD Drives have stopped working
One is a Phillips and the other is a BenQ
I dont believe it has to do with the drives directly
My drives will burn/read when i first start up my desktop which is a Dell 510
I am runnning Vista Home Premium
After the first initial burn or read it will stop responding to all my programs
I have tried Ripping with AnyDVD but it will not even recognize the DVD.
When burning it will hum but on CLoneDVD it will jus say its writing but the percentage will go nowhere.

So I tried to uninstall the drives thru Device manager and when i restarted it did burn once as usual but after that the same problem again.

Any advice or steps to fallow?
