Software I have tired to use Nero 8-9,and Roxio 9.
Issue I am unable to burn DVD with my Sony DRX-840U on my computer. I am able to burn CD-Rs with it but not DVD-R's, I did the whole try new media nothing get an error with in 13 secs of trying to burn a DVD. I am able to burn DVDs on my friends computer and my MAC computer but not my PC. Anyone else ever have a problem like this?
There are no drivers for this burner as it is a plug and play unit I spoke with Sony about it for two days and no luck.

I had the same problem on my DRU-810.
They (Sony) will make you run their diagnostics software and provie to them that your drive is defective.
After you go through that step and e-mail the test results to Sony, if the drive is under warranty they will issue an RMA and eventually get a new drive.

moved to correct forum as not a ratdvd discussion issue. when burning dvd's on the other computers, were you burning them on that drive as it is supposedly external or on the computer's own burner?

Yes, external dvd burner and I Sony sent me a RMA but I went to my friends house after I got off the phone with them and it burned a DVD-r with no problem. Thats what gets me and I updated my PC up to Serv.Pack 2 waiting to see if it was Pack 3 that cause the problem guess not.
