Yes!

All have down sides.

There is IP hiding. It is is cheap but you may have troble if you use private trackers. You may be rejected from other peers if the address appears fraudlent to Peerguardian on the peer's computer.

You can use a cloud service. There is a free cloud service, TOR but that will reduce your speed to about dial up. There are paid for cloud services. Pirate Bay sells one.

There are also more stealthy networks.

All these methods are fine if you are not in Japan or possibley other countries that have outlawed P2P. I saw a news release where someone was nabbed on one of the most secure networks in Japan. I figure these measures can fool half assed cyber police but not serious ones. If you are in a country which does not expressly forbids P2P you are probably fine without these measures if you encrypt your flows. Then they must hack your computer to find out what you are doing. That evidence can't be used in court.

I think the cloud service might fool ISPs if you have gotten a 'letter'. There are also newsgroups. If you are going to pay you may as well go that route.

Anyone that is selling it or giving it away will have an explaination.

What is is in a nut shell is, you go through a relay server/servers in between the other peer. You are seen to be accessing a server not a peer. The peer is also accessing a server not a peer. I do not know too much about this technology. I have used TOR before so I know how that one works. I am guessing the others work in about the same way. You can select an Idenity with TOR from several contenents. That is extreamly secure and extreamly slow. The cloud refers to multiple servers not a single server. Both work however the multiple servers really tend to scramble things. Every session you may be using an IP from a different contenent. In either case, your idenity is truely masked since you may access the peer with an IP address for another contenent.
