Im thinking of upgrading my laptop CPU with a 45 nm one, just because it gives of less heat and performs better then its 65 nm counterpart. Has anyone had any success doing so. If so, which processor have you used. Im thinking of getting the T9100, or the T9300. I believe im better off just getting the T9100 model cause its $100 cheaper then the T9300, and I just can't imagine paying that much more for a processsor that is just 100MHz faster. Eeeep.

I have successfully upgraded CPUs on a laptop. (not on the ASUS)

Laptops are typically not designed for CPU changes. They are not like desktops which are designed for a large variety of CPUs.

It appears that what you are thinging about might be possible, but I googled a thread in which this exact issue was discussed with regard to an HP notebook and the consensus appeared to be "not worth the effort"

also if bios is set for 65nm version & not 45nm then good possibility 45nm won't work. ran into that when trying to upgrade northwood cpu to prescott cpu, no post. bios was not programed to take prescott so possibly same with 45nm.
