Didnt see this one coming... After ripping a bluray disk to my laptops hard drive, I wanted to transfer the 32 gig folder to my NAS Iomega harddrive. The transfer would quit half way thru. I then connected the drive to my laptop thru USB and got "File too large for destination file system" Its a FAT32.. What do I do now?!?!? How do you guys move your BIG files around?

I hate to ask the obvious, but what are you doing with anything that is still formatted using a FAT32 filesystem?

I think it's time you converted/upgraded your filesystems.

Valid Question...My hardrive is a year old and I bought it and just plugged it in... Is Fat32 my problem?

Well, it's not "your problem" but now "it's your problem". <G>.

If the hard drive came preformatted, it was probably preformatted with a fat32 filesystem to ensure compatibility with everything.

If you are using a "current" operating system (Win2K or better) you can convert the filesystem from fat32 to NTFS without issue.

This Microsoft article explains it.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307881

Once you have converted the external drive to fat32 your should be able to copy back and forth with no problem.
