I have recently installed Microsoft Windows Service Pack 3 through Microsoft Updates and when I tried to go to Device Manager, it gave me an error. After doing some research, I found that this error occured because I installed it though Microsoft Updates, and that I needed to install the stand-alone version from Microsoft's website. So I uninstalled Service Pack 3 and went to Microsoft's website and downloaded the stand-alone version, but during the installation process, it said that the operation had been interrupted and that it had to restore mt computer back to the setting before I installed the Service Pack. The problem is that for some reason, when I logged back into the computer after everything was done, I found that some of my services had stopped working, but I managed to manually get them going again, and that the computer was using that Windows Classic Theme, this is strange because now when I go to the properties it will only display the Classic Theme, all my Custom Themes along with the Windows XP default Theme and the Royal Theme(I'm running a media center PC and the Royal Theme is included), are gone but when I went to C:\WINDOWS\Resources\Themes, my themes were still there, but would not load when I tried to launch them. Also I can't restore my PC because for some reason the Windows Recovery Turned it self off on my drive, because I don't recall messing with it. Can someone please help me?! I hate the Windows Classic Theme but I don't want to screw up my computer, and I have a feeling I'll have to mess with UXTHEME.DLL. I am running a Compaq Machine, with SP 2 installed at the moment(and probably forever considering that I'm going to go no where close to SP 3 after this). Any insight you guys could will be helpful. Thanks.
