i downloaded a ps1 game but then i realized it was a .bin and .cue file.
when i burn ps2 games i have to patch the iso so that it works with mc boot 1.8
i cant patch the ps1 game as its not a iso.
does anyone know what to do??

Well read some of this. It will tell you how to convert .bin and .cue to .iso for you to patch.

You can't convert PS1 games to DVD. It just does not work.

Just burn your PS1 backup and if you have a slim PS2, use this method to boot it using fmcb 1.8
