Hello,

Looking at getting a new computer after years or using my current.

I am looking at purchasing a prebuilt HP computer.

My current computer, self built, has a nVidia 7500GT graphics card in it and the HP prebuilt has a nVidia 9500GS in it.

Should i just use the 9500GS or take out my 7500GT and use that? I have read shotty reviews on the 9500GS. I wish I had the money to buy something more up to date, but that is not an option at this time.

Thanks for your advice!

Thanks for your reply. I have built several computers in the past but I havent in years, now I am so far behind on the current tech that I am afraid it would take me months to catch up and by then, it will just change again. Such is the current speed of technology.

I am looking at buying the HP m9500y from best buy if you were wondering what specs I was looking at. I know I want alot of mem and storage space. I multitask, do alot of photo editing, disc burning, anime watching, and possible gaming.

I didnt want to come on here and just "hey how should I build my next computer" and look like an ass with his hands out.

If you are willing to take the time and help me out I would be appreciated. I am on a fairly short timeline though. THat is why I was looking to buy prebuilt locally.

My budget is 750-1000 for a new system. My current system is:

Motherboard:
eVGA 133-K8-NF41
Socket 939

1 Gig 184 pin memory

Graphic Card: eVGA 7800gt

Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3500+, MMX, 3DNow, ~2.2GHz

Attempting to run Vista (LOL)

Building a PC hasn't changed too much in that time, if anything it's easier to do now. I'd recommend you build a new system with a more powerful PSU, and a better card than the 9500GS!

I appreciate your advice. The thing is, I dont know what to buy! Let me rephrase that. I know what components to buy, but I dont know what the best bang for my buck is. Just looking on some sites such as newegg and such, I just feel overwhelmed.

I think it is because I have not built my own in years.

With my job and family I just dont have the hours or energy to research everything.

Again, if you took it upon yourself to assist me, I most definatly would appreciate it but I cant expect anyone to just do something for me for nothing.
