I have a Hp Compaq Presario c700. one day the screen just turned black white. when i move close the screen down to about 45 degrees the screen worked again. But putting it back up it turned blank white..
i replaced the lcd screen and it still is blank white.
i think it the wires or something.
i went to the geek squad and they said you need to get the screen replaced and it would cost up to $700!
can anybody help me fix it?

go thru this link & see if it uses wire cables or ribbon cables from screen to motherboard. look at yours were it exits from motherboard part of laptop to screen to see if any damage to harness in that area as that is what it sounds like it is.

Leave it to BB to tell you that it costs more to repair a part for a screen than the value of the entire laptop. They'll tell you that you need to buy a new computer if you get a virus if they think they can get away with it.

It does sound like a short in a wire though. Let us know what you find

On page 58 chapter 4, my computer is exactly what my computer looks like.
i think the display inverter is whats causing the problem. when i replaced the screen i didnt replace the inverter.
could the display inverter be the problem?
Obviously the wires from the lcd screen was changed and did not help my screen problem.
Im about to lose my mind, i haven used the damn thing in 3 months!

the fact that moving the screen causes the it to work or not work points to a wiring problem or a cold solder joint on a chip/connector. examine the wires & connections carefully with the laptop patially disassembled as you move the screen back & forth.
