hi,

have Canon mv830i - was watching something i loaded to hard drive from dv tape, then burned to dvd, and noticed a white dot in the top left of the picture

so i did a test, videoed 'black' to tape and then again, but direct to HDD, then burned both to dvd

when i watched the dvd back, the taped black threw up the white pixel (dead pixel?) but the HDD-direct footage was white pixel free [relief]

what does this mean though - that the cam is using two separate CCD sensors, one for 'tape' and one for 'card', because i always select 'card' mode when videoing direct to HDD by firewire

many thanks

Ric
