I know that this is a very common problem, but all the stuff I found reading up on it in other threads actually added to my confusion, so please don't flame me too hard for starting another thread, ok ?
Let's cut to the chase:
I have a PC (HP Pavilion M9075) with an HDMI output. Presently, the PC and TV (which is a Sony KDL-40D3500) are connected by HDMI cable, the TV is set up as a second display ("dualview" in the Nvidia settings). This works ok, but I'm moving into a bigger apartment where I won't be able to connect the two via cable anymore.
Now I'm looking for a convenient solution to link the two or a simple way to continue being able to watch my 1080p movies and pictures.
One quick and dirty way of doing it would probably be to just connect my pc to some kind of not too heavy hdd media player that can handle 1080p stuff and has HDMI, transfer the files I want to watch onto it like one would with an external hdd, then carry that thing over to my TV and plug it in. Can a player like that Popcorn Hour A-110 do that? Or would I be better off with a simpler media player?
The other (and probably more sophisticated solution) would be to just send files from my pc to the player/box/thingy over some kind of wireless network, or stream them (however, I read that wireless streaming is not recommended for 1080p).
I don't have any experience with setting up networks and don't want this to be overly complicated..
Btw, most of the files are in avior mkvformat, the pictures regular jpegs.
Also, I don't need to be able to record TV shows with the device or use it with Netflix etc.
Any ideas ? I'd really appreciate your advice.. Thanks in advance.
