Staple's got them on sale this week. Memorex advertizes that they are for pc dvd-rw drives and eliminate the format war between plus and dash. I got a spindle of 100 for $25 and here's how the 1st one codes:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Unique Disc Identifier : [DVD-R:RITEKF1]
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Disc & Book Type : [DVD-R] - [DVD-R]
Manufacturer Name : [Ritek Corp.]
Manufacturer ID : [RITEKF1]
Blank Disc Capacity : [2,298,496 Sectors = 4.71 GB (4.38 GiB)]
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Looks like plain old dash format to me!
I will test burn a few, but I doubt that they can be booktyped..

Hi,
endo tried some of the Ritek F 1s. He said the quality were spotty at best. Out of a 50 spindle, he got 3-4 coasters burning at 8x. Also endo thinks they are second rate as compared to the Ridata discs.

I test burned 4 discs:
Benq 1620- 4x burn scored 94,8x burn scored 95
Benq 1650- 4x scored 96,8x scored 95
I still have yet to test my Plextor 716A
Not good for the booktypers like myself.I'll give some of them to my bro because his burner favors the dash format.
At least they weren't MBI or Cmags, LOL!

Any tests when burned at a more reasonable, rated speed?

I've used the Ritek F-01 (Office Depot Disks -R variety) and they scan reasonably well. I haven't had an issue with them using Lite-On drives and they play well with all standalone players (Except for the wife's Sony DVD/VHS deck)

I tried a Wii backup with 1 of them this morning and seems ok. I am not too fond of dash format-coaster % skyrockets,LOL! Only with the Ty Watershields and Ty Full Hub shiny's which come in dash format only. I'll sacrafice the lower compatability factor for the higher quality covers anyday.

I'm down to my last 20 or so of those memosux DvdR's.
0 coasters so far.
My wii plays them better than my Ty-G03 watershields. I gave my bro about 10 of them since he loves the dash flavor.

Taiyo Yuden, Sony and Verbatim are often in the $20-30 range too, for 100 discs. I wouldn't even use Memorex if they were given to me for free, not anymore. My data is too valuable to gamble on hit-and-miss quality discs.

I've found Ritek 16x media to be good to fair depending on the batch. Some burned better than others even within the same 50 to 100 pack spindle. Keep it at 8x & Ritek is fine in my experience although I won't buy any more of it. I get better results with Tayio Yuden, Verbatim & even Prodisc.
