Hello all,
I could probably google this question, but since I see there's a new form here on aD, I'll just do the lazy thing and ask here.

My computer has an Athlon 3000+ with a 333MHz FSB. However, it is listed as 166 MHz in any system diagnostic tool I run. Now, I've seen some stuff about having to run dual channel in order to see the whole 333MHz, and I've also seen that you have to run faster RAM - I believe mine's 512MB PC2700. What's the deal? I'm confused

The clock for the FSB is a series of electrical pulses that you could graph something like this:
__/\__/\__/\__/\__

Traditionally, systems that transfer data only on clock cycles transfer either when the clock signal is going up or when it's going down, but not both. Modern motherboards transfer data on both the up and down sides of the clock pulse so the effective transfer clock is double the actual clock rate. In other words the FSB number that's commonly used is not the number of clock pulses per second, but the number of data transfers per second.
