Did you back up your stuff with incd? i.e drag and drop too your cdr or dvd-r if so you must install Nero incd to open the files

I assume you used ?Nero BackItUp?.

Have you be able to restore the file before you formatting HD with that particular disc? (I meant that the disc was successfully recorded and not damaged then.)

Can you read the disc, for example with Windows Explorer?
(There should be a file with its extension ?.nbi? at its root dir. ?BackItUp? should start up by double clicking it.)

If you can?t read or there weren?t ?*.nbi? file, I?m afraid that your data was not properly recorded or damaged. There may be a way to recover damaged disc. However that is another issue and I?m not familiar with.

I hope this helps.

(edit - add)
And for next time, I recommend not to compress the data unless it is really necessary.
(I prefer 2 discs without compression than the one compressed disc.)

Without compression, you can access to an individual file just like accessing HD.

I wish your disc is ok.

I can read the disk when I go through 10 steps with winzip, so I know the files are still there. 1 pic at a time!!! There has to be a way to reinstall a Nero Backup without spending 1.29 per min with tech support? I thank everyone for the replys, I only hope one of you can help with this goofy prob...

I?m confused?

Did you use ?Nero BackItUp?or not? (If you started with StartSmart, then pick Data Backup, ?Nero BackItUp? would start.)
Have you be able to re-install Nero 6? (Is that your problem?)
Can you start ?Nero BackItUp?, which should be under ?Nero OEM? in the Nero menu?

If you used Nero BackItUp, there should be ?ReadMe.txt? at its root.

If not, you need to provide more information to get help.
Could you explain what are on your disc? (file extension)

I have mostly Pictures on these Nero backed up DVDs. I can un zip them with WinZip but have to go through about 10 steps, and one at a time! Have Contacted Nero to no avail. I know the files are still on the disks because I have painstakenly unzipped over half of 6.5 gig worth. If you have any othe suggestions it would be appreciated, thanx for taking the time. Bill

I understand you have data backups on your discs, which are readable.
I believe those data were compressed individually by Nero BackItUp. So for you to restore, it is better and easier to use original software, which I believe Nero BackItUp.
(BackItUp is not only to backup the data on the disc but also to restore those data.)

So let me ask you again, Can you start BackItUp?
(Either through Menu, or clicking the ?.nbi file.)
