I have a Dell laptop, which powers up ok and the cooling fan seems to run continuously but nothing apperas on the screen at all.
Is this lappy ready for the knackers yard or can it be revived?
Thanks in advance for any help/advice.
The Fn key in conjunction with the F4 key. It is the key combination (or something like that) that switches Dell laptops from
int screen -->ext. monitor -->both displays active

What is Fn-F4?
Some laptops have a button on the keyboard which is a "Function" key to be pressed in conjunction with another key. The keystroke combination, I assume, was supposed to toggle the laptop display on/off.

Can it be Hardware problem?
That's why dailun was trying to have you see if you could hook up the VGA port to a desktop monitor. If it worked, then the video card on the motherboard is fine and the laptop LCD would most likely need to be replaced. If you can't see anything on a desktop monitor, then it may be a bad video card or motherboard.
