I signed up afterdawn.com to post on the original thread, but my newbie status won't allow me to add to it, hence the reason for this new post.
Anyway, I've owned the Accurian model, the Ilo model, and am in the process of purchasing the original liteon model.
When I checked online yesterday, ebay was selling a semi-used liteon lvw-5045 for over $250!!
Just goes to show you this unit is still in high demand for those who've used it and fell in love with it.
I use this unit primarily to record ova hdtv sports events like laker games and usopen tennis matches. I connect the accurian hdtv tuner to the svideo in on the adr-3223 unit. It will record the captions too. The picture quality is amazing at SP mode. I record the shows to the hard drive in 2 hour intervals using the timer function, then i burn the 2 hour events onto dvds and wipe clean the hard drive.
With the original seagate 80 drive, you only get roughly 33 hours in SP mode. So after 2 years making do with the meager storage, I finally started searching online to find a way to boot the storage space.
Anyway, I followed untrsb's instructions and upgraded 2 hard drives, a 320gb wd that gave 141 hours to my Accurian, and a 300gb maxtor that gave 130 hours to my Ilo.
3 points:
1. the 500gb seagate didn't work. Only showed 33 hours after I correctly formatted it and installed into the accurian.
2. I don't need to wipe the 80gb completely clean. I can copy the entire recordings unto a new drive. The additional storage hours still showed, along with all the existing tv shows I had in the original 80 gb drive.
3. This is the most peculiar point. It seems you can't do a hard drive clean up under the recorder's menu. If you do, the larger drive you put in will be reverted back to a 80gb format.
The only way around it, it seems, is not to perform that task, ever.
