I often get a BSOD claiming that the "Driver IRQL is not less or equal" and the windows recovery thing seems to think my "Network and ethernet card" must be the problem. I assume this must be built into the gigabyte E35 motherboard, as I haven't added any such card. Anyways, the windows help thing directs me to the correct drivers, however, when installing, the installer halts at "Detecting Realtek ethernet network card and cable" and fails to respond. Therefore I cannot update my drivers.
How the hell am I supposed to remedy this problem? I'm using Windows Vista 64 ultimate, and would just dual boot with xp, if I had any idea how to do it, and if I was sure my files wouldn't be deleted.
Can anyone help? I'd greatly appreciate it! :)

Did you even bother going to Gigabyte's website, search for the motherboard, and get the drivers for that motherboard?

I'm sorry I don't understand, do you mean "Try going to gigabytes website to find the motherboards drivers." If you dislike helping people, maybe just don't do it? And yes I did bother to go to the site, I just had no idea if the chipset or lan drivers encompassed the ethernet and network card aspects of the motherboard.

Also, the chipset drivers on the realtek site are out of date against mines according to the installer and the lan drivers are the exact same as the windows support thingy sent me to. So what am I supposed to do?

Oh shit, looks like i've stepped on the toes of an internet hardass. If it pains you so to help, don't bother. Get over yourself and try to respect other people, not everyone finds the same things as simple as you do.

Yes, although the blue screen doesn't appear for more than a few seconds so the most I can get is that "Driver IRQL is not less or equal message. searching google leads to a bunch of forum discussions about the graphics card drivers causing it, whilst in my case, it's the network drivers that are causing it, which I cannot update due to the installer being a pile of shit. people have also suggested memtest, but I am unsure how that functions, am I supposed to burn it to a CD and boot off the CD?
