Hi all,
I am new at this, but have not yet been able to see this answer in my search.
My ps2 is a modded PAL from australia...chipped,matrix infinity chip?.
When downloading, do I still need to d/l a PAL version, or will mine convert/play an NTSC version also.
Many thanks, as I do not want to d/l a ntsc version if my chip will not handle it.

You can play both NTSC or PAL with a Matrix infinity.
There is a great guide here.
Just scroll down to the "Configuring the Matrix Infinity Menu"

Thank you.
I have bought this unit 2nd hand, and the seller "thinks" it was that chip.
However, when I try those triangle etc shortcuts, they don't work, so perhaps it is a different chip.
When it starts up it pops up a menu that says "browser" "system configuration" with browser highlighted. It also says x enter, triangle is version
when I press version it says
Console SCPH 30002R
Browser 1.20
CDPlayer 1.20
PS Driver 1.10
DVD player 2.10A
Console selections can be accessed only in the menu items of console or PS driver
System configuration menu allows for these changes
clock adjustment
language
component video out/Y Cb/Pb Cr/Pr
digital out (optical)
screen size.
So...going on the info you have given me, and that on my screen, then perhaps this is a different chip??

You may not have the infinity manager installed.
If you press Triangle when booting up PS2 it would go to the Infinity manager if its installed.
Otherwise you have to install it.

Unless they have it configured to not show up, or as you say it is not a Matrix infinity.
I also forgot to tell you to try "To enter the configuration menu press TRIANGLE + CIRCLE during PS2 Boot Up"
Again that would depend if it is installed or not.

Thanks smokyrain,
The "TRIANGLE + CIRCLE during PS2 Boot Up" doesn't work, so definitely not infinity by the look of it.
I have googled for hours looking to see if I could find a site that showed some mod chip menu's, so as to try identify the chip ( without opening the thing that I am not confident of doing )but all to no avail.
