Hello all,

Im sorry, I think this question has been made before but I cant find it and I need it urgently.

So, yesterday I installed the MC Exploit on a friends PS2 and its working cool but I dont know how to boot backups. Im using LaunchELF and copied SwapMagic.ELF and CogSwap.ELF to my USB key, they are both running well but cant boot backups only original copies, Swap Magis is saying Illegal Disc.

Is there a solution for this?

Thanks,
Dren

Install fmcb 1.8 to the mc.
http://bootleg.sksapps.com/tutorials/fmcb/

Use ESR.ELF to play backups that are patched with the ESR disc patcher.

http://psx-scene.com/forums/freevast/58441-esr-public-beta.html

This will allow you to then play backups that are patched.

so once the exploit is installed, can you boot a ps2 dvd backup without swap magic or TOC method? i know I'm late, but i just only recently heard about memory card exploits. it would be great not having to use any kind of disc or mod chip.

Yes once fmcb 1.8 is installed, you don't need anything else to load backups.

The only requirement is to patch the ISO images with "esr disc patcher"

The PS2 will just load them like normal PS2 discs.

is it possible to play games that haven't been patched? i read on some other site mentioning something about a swap magic 3.8 elf file can load un-patched games. i would hate to have to patch all the backups i already made, but if i really have to i will.

Yes you can play backups with the SM 3.8 elf.

I do it in one of two ways. You need to have a fliptop or block sensors on slim. Use fliptop or slidetool on FAT (fliptop is best)

1)Using the fmcb configurator

I configure my SM 3.8 elf to L2
Put in the Original GTA Vice City Stories
Started the PS2 holding L2, SM 3.8 starts
Swap the disk for your backup
Press Normal, Then choose your region

You need to have an Original PS2 disk in the tray when you start it up.
I use GTA Vice City as it has a Large TOC , meaning its a larger disk than most so other backups should play fine.

2nd Method)

Boot through uLe, making sure you have configured it too "disk tray on" in options.
Make a shortcut key to SM 3.8 elf, or use Filebrowser

-ORiginal PS2 disk in tray
-Hold R1 as you Boot PS2
- Press your shortcut key for SM 3.8 or use Filebrowser to find and load it.
- SM 3.8 loads
- Swap the disk for your backup
- Press Normal, Then choose your region
