nero 6 ultra transcoding and burn issues

hi, I currently use Nero 6 Ultra and up until yesterday had all the update including Nero express 3. I am currently transfering my video movies onto dvd to save them. All has been working perfect i copy them onto my computer using windows movie maker and then edit and transcode them in Nero. About a 10 days ago nero started to play up. a movie has been taking about 90 minutes to transcode and then burn. however as I said about 10 day ago the process would start and when it reaches just over the halfway mark the computer just shuts down as if it had been turned off. I have tried everything to check for problems Turned off software etc to see if there were any conflicts. And after 2 complete reinstallations have found it works fine if I don't update express 2 to express 3.
the only new updates/programs that have been added when this started were windows updates and my security programs. I have done a system restore but it still happens with express 3. has anyone got any ideas.
i have a i am running a AMD dual core 64 4600 processor with 2 gig of ram.
and trend micro internet security.

A PC that shuts down, especially during encoding
(which is cpu intensive) is a sign of the CPU overheating.

Have you opened the box recently and checked for dust?

yes i just did everything looks ok the thing is it will encode and burn with express 2. the moment i upgrade to express 3 it reverts back to shut down halveway through

Standard troubleshooting procedures apply.
Find a temp monitor and observe it while you recreate
the problem. If you can't dinf anything specific to your system,
something like Everest Home may work.
Check the Task Manager for cpu utilization,
and, look in the event viewer for possible related messages.

hi thanks
i have encoded and burnt 2 dvds today using nero and nero express 2. after your reply to check things out i updated to nero express 3 and downloaded everest home. then started to encode another movie. once again it shut down, no large temp spikes or anything abnormal. have checked the event log not much there either. a few error messages which i believe were logged after the restart and they had to do with nero. all were the same except the last part of the address which were the different parts of nero (ie nero express, nero media home etc.
