I'm really curious about this so I wondered could you back up a psx iso to dvd and play it using swap magic 3.6 if not thanks anyway and if so could I have some instructions.

Nope.

Only ps2 games can be converted from cd to dvd.

you can't play psx copies with swapmagic anyway.. you need a proper psx boot disk, like action replay (hard to find these days)

OR you can just do the 'manual swap trick'. (ie. start with a retail Ps1 game and quickly swap it for the back-up when the logo appears).
