I have just set this up online, and the more or us who sign this the better.
If this goes through, the US will follow, and before long we will all lose all our gear.
This is for real. The actual copyright holders will have the right to seize your equipment, to quote the US letter to the EU

THIS MEANS ALL OF US. All it will take will be an anonymous call that so& so has pirated software or music on their PC, then it's bye bye PC. Please, this is serious.

Petition is signed. Ill be telling others to sign as well, we have to keep this right. All too often, laws are not passed by the people, but by the corporations that "contribute to" (in my eyes, its the same as buying) political parties.

Yeah, i thought the number was kind of low too. People dont care about their rights until they are taken away from them, and it is too late. Everybody, tell anybody you can to sign this right away!!!!!!

Interesting, is it not,how Sony are encouraging users to break the law with the Mastering bundle in the new VAIO range, with an app designed specifically for running tapes & vinyl into the system. I guess they get around it by use of the word "Archiving", as this is about the only exclusion in UK law as it stands.
The old one about only a single copy for personal use is also obsolete.
It's a criminal offence these days, as you do not have the right, even under fair use legislation, to create a copy.
It is an "infringing copy" accordingto the 2003 regulations.
Welcome to "New" Labour Britain. It seems that George Orwell is only going to be a few years out.
Look out for the new EU laws going through, that will give the Record Companies entry rights to your homes to seize your property & freeze your bank account. Onus of proof will be on the accused, not the accuser.
